Berger |

|
| |
| Meet Evon
Berger, she is the manager at Kitty Keepers. She also volunteers
many hours each week to assist with the sanctuary, the clinics,
getting supplies and transporting animals. This is Evon at a spay/neuter
clinic, she is saying, “I don’t mind getting up at 5 a.m. to work
for you, BUT don’t take my picture." Sorry Evon, you’re too
great an asset not to include you – picture and all. |
Julia |
| |
 |
| |
This month's
(August 2006) recipient of the Power of Youth Award is Julia.
Julia was nominated by Penney Bergren who describes her as "passionate
about those in need, especially animals and elderly. She is one
of the most reliable people I know in any age group." Julia
is an active volunteer for the Kitty Keepers Organization, works
part-time and has maintained a 4.0 GPA in high school thus far.
She is also involved with her church's Rent-A-Kid program and
other church activities. She is truly an advocate for animals
and a great community asset.
The Power of Youth Award recognizes outstanding area high school
students. Hill County Electric Cooperative is proud to sponsor
this special program designed to give recognition to area high
school students who exemplify the four core values of Touchstone
EnergyR in their day to day life at home, at school and in their
communities.
Congratulations to Julia for exemplifying the four core values
of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability and Commitment to Community.
Julia is a 17 year old, well-rounded and very ambitious young
lady. She works hard to make sure everything runs smoothly at
our spay/neuter clinics. She can help anesthetize animals, prep
for surgery, do recovery, check clients in/out and usually stays
after to clean the facility for the next day’s clinic. Julia also
works for Kitty Keepers and has an excellent rapport with the
animals. She is good with frightened and feral animals and has
a knack for spotting an animal that needs special attention before
others usually see there is a problem. Julia has many outside
interests, including band, 4-H, church, local Care Center and
was recently selected for the Power of Youth Award offered by
the Hill County Electric. In addition she is an A student. |

| Wanda |
| |
|
| |
| Wanda is an
outstanding volunteer. Her energy is overflowing and her love for
animals is always evident. Wanda is an RN and her skills are used
to benefit the sanctuary animals. She is always available for drawing
blood, helping calculate medications and she is phenomenal when
it comes to catching feral cats. She is always in attendance at
our spay/neuter clinics and her many skills help to keep the clinic
running smoothly. She is funny and witty and it’s always entertaining
to work with her, but we know we can always call on her to help
with any crisis that arises. |
| |
| Serena |
| |
|
| |
| Serena is
a 16 year old girl who has been volunteering with Kitty Keepers
for 3 years. She is a great asset and fun to work with. She isn’t
afraid of getting dirty, working hard or just rocking a kitten when
needed. Serena has been featured on the Paula Zahn program and is
a very well rounded young woman. When we are short staffed, she
stays after the clinic to help clean the sanctuary. She understands
that no matter what other projects need to be done, the resident
animals must always receive the same top notch care. |
| |
| Jesse |
| |
|
| |
| Jesse is such
an asset and friend to us. She can fill any position that needs
her and usually is wearing several hats at any given time. She can
draw blood, prep, anesthetize, sterilize instruments, do recovery,
computer work and supervise all of us to keep us on track. And yes
she is just as sweet as she looks. |
| |
Danielle |
| |
|
| |
| Danielle is
an outstanding 15 year old young woman. She is an excellent student,
a great volunteer and still finds time to help clean the sanctuary.
She has many outside interests and has appeared on the Paula Zahn
show. She works all 6 of our clinics each year and has since she
was 11. She can help with anesthesia, prepping, checking in/out,
recovery and is excellent with younger volunteers in helping them
to learn how to do the best they can. |
| |
Bev |
| |
|
| |
| Another wonderful
asset to our spay/neuter clinics is Bev. Funny, witty and always
willing to help wherever she is needed. She is excellent with our
younger volunteers and keeps them learning and interested until
they develop into another one of our A+ volunteers. We thank Bev
for all her help. |
| |
Jessa |
| |
|
| |
Jessa is an
11 year old volunteer who is an exceptional child. She is always
willing to work a spay/neuter clinic and we can rely on her to follow
through with her commitments. She is excellent in recovering animals.
Jessa also enjoys working our open hours, greeting the public and
helping them select a new friend to adopt. She is an excellent worker
to come and just spend time grooming and playing with the residents.
Additionally, Jessa is an A student, is in 4-H and has helped with
many projects at the Care Center. She also did a room make-over
with her family at the Care Center. She has gone up on her own to
read to the residents at the Care Center. She earned money for fabric
to make a blanket for a child at the Intermountain Childrens' Home
in Helena. She was the youngest participant in the blanket making
project at the Methodist Church. She is Student Council President
at Sunnyside School and puts in many before school hours working
at the school store. For other activities, she is on Lion's Swim
Team and takes piano lessons. |
| |
Stella |
| |
|
| |
Stella
is a wonderful and energetic volunteer. She is an RN at our local
hospital and brings her considerable talents to share with our
local sanctuary. Stella comes out at least once a week to give
special attention to the animals and we can always count on her
if we need testing, blood work or guidance with a sick animal.
Stella is always in attendance at our low-cost spay/neuter clinics
and we can count on her to help in any capacity. She helps with
drawing the vaccinations, anesthetizing the animals, prepping
animals, sterilizing instruments and keeps an ever watchful eye
on the recovery process.
Without Stella’s
dedication and expertise, Kitty Keepers would not have the excellent
success rate that we enjoy. |
| |
Alyssa |
| |
|
| |
| Allyssa is
a 17 year old volunteer and employee. She is excellent at both.
She is always willing to do what is requested of her whether on
a volunteer basis or while on the clock. She is loving and compassionate
and has an excellent rapport with the animals. She is an extremely
hard worker and more than deserving of recognition for all she does
to help the animals in our community. |
| |
Carol |
| |
|
| |
Carol has
a special gift. She can raise an orphaned kitten with a phenomenal
success rate. She truly has the hand of God with her when these
tiny blessings are put into her care. Not only do they survive,
but they grow into the most sought after pets. This angel is never
too busy or full to try to save another kitten despite being a
working mom, she always accepts these precious orphans. |
| |
TyLyn |
| |
|
| |
TyLyn is
a great humanitarian and cares deeply for animals and there well
being. She volunteers to help animals, she cares for animals when
their owners are gone and is not afraid to speak up for an animal
being mistreated. She does not silently sit by and think, "it's
none of my business". Yet she is kind and tries hard to work
with people to better the situation instead of taking animals
away from them. It is our great privilege to have TyLyn work with
us. |
| |
Joe |
| |
|
| |
| Joe travels
280 miles to assist with the clinics. He gets up early and arrives
by 8:00 a.m. to help with whatever is needed. He has a great rapport
with the animals and tends to the recovering animals. He is warm,
funny and works well with the younger children who come to help
and want to recover the animals. n Joe always has a joke or some
sort of comic relief to raise our spirits during an especially long
day. He’s definitely on the A –Team. |
| |
Tina |
| |
|
| |
| Tina's love
of animals shows in the websites that she has created for Kitty
Keepers. Tina comes from Cut Bank and helps at the clinics. She
has many talents and is a great asset. Her love of and sensitivity
to animals is evident, and they always respond to her nurturing.
She is a God send when it comes to computing work and does a wonderful
job on this awesome website. She washes instruments, cleans or whatever
is needed. She also is a good friend and always has time to listen. |
